Not just a studio — a creative home

Built for practice, exchange, and a community of makers who care about the craft as much as we do.

Our story

Founded by Emilie Vos

After years working in other studios, Emilie was ready to build a place of her own — room to experiment and play, surrounded by people who take clay seriously without taking themselves too seriously.

De Pijp Wheelhouse opened in 2026 as the kind of studio she had always wanted: a space that supports serious practice and welcomes people at the very beginning of their journey, in equal measure.

We know what a good studio community does for your work. So we chose to build one intentionally — on Van Ostadestraat, in the heart of De Pijp.

Designed to work differently

Many studios are built around classes. Wheelhouse is built around practice — creating the conditions for people to learn from each other, not only from teachers.

  • Exchange over hierarchy Skill-share sessions, conversation spaces, material swaps, and round tables where knowledge can move freely.
  • Reinvestment collective We are a non-profit association. Surplus revenue flows back into equipment, programming, and wider access.
  • Member voice Members help shape glazes, workshops, and how the studio develops. We see ourselves as a launchpad, not only a workspace.
